Teletext Generator/Monitor

These units were custom made for a client based in the US. He wanted a device to display teletext on a monitor, with everything required built into one case.

My solution was to create a unit containing both a Rasppberry Pi and a teletext decoder board. The Pi outputs a teletext signal which can be read by the decoder - and is also output on the rear for a second standalone decoder.

Since the desire was to use the units with PC monitors rather than televisions, an HDMI output was required rather than the standard composite. I accomplished this with a CVBS -> HDMI converter board.

The front panel displays the status of power, CPU activity, teletext availability, whether or not the selected page has been found, and whether the unit can access the internet or not.

The page number is selected via a decimal thumbwheel on both units.

The decoder is functionally identical, just lacking the Pi. This photo offers a beter view of the front panel wiring.
