Bench Power Supply

This unit had two primary purposes; The first was to power various chargers my dad used for model aircraft batteries, which required a solid 12v output; and the second was to provide a variable output for me to experiment with. Ironically, the former would ultimately lead to it's untimely demise, but that's another story.

The unit used off-the-shelf power supply modules: one 12v, 25A for the static 12v output, and one 48v 5A for the variable output. This was combined with a current meter and shunt, anlong with some binding posts and a mains input socket with integrated fuse.

Mains input and power supply detail. Note the custom copper plate used to provide a good connection between the supply outputs and the cables.

Top-down view

Sadly the only internal phots I have are from the first stage. The unit was built in two "stages": first the 12v section, and then the 48v variable output was added later.
